Girl sketches

Latest assignement

My latest assignement took 2 months. about 200 illustrations for an environmental education book series.

Women

First Prize

I won a first prize with this short story, a time of political upheaval in Brazil, lots of protest in the streets, I tried a not so political approach to it. I always wanted to draw a pig chase in a big city by indians out of nowhere, also, a street protest going bad, etc. I had the chance to include in the crowd: Lone wolf and his cub, Calvin and Hobbes, Iggy Pop, Tiozinho da Sukita, and a homage to Adam Hughes. Crowds are hard to draw, but kind of fun to play around.

Watercolors and fish

Old school - watercolors, ink and rough paper. For some reason, I like the first fish.

The bloody joys of uncompromised sketching

Wildlife

Manaus gave me a chance to look into some quite interesting wildlife. I did my best with the reference, sometimes sketched live animals in the field, in fish markets or samples from collections. Fun stuff.

Monsters

Dinosaurs and Pleistocene mammals, these were made for a book, published three years ago.

Manguinha

All the lines pt I

Somewhen in 2001 I think, the poor guy being run over is my old , long time friend, Marcos Vergara, he didn´t mind when I mentioned the possibility. The story doesn´t end here though.
I was having thoughts over the relativity of things back then, and really wanted to draw ants, college classes where getting on my taste for drawing insects as true as possibe. That is actually a species of leaf cutting ant in Brazil.
